Smartphones have come a long way, from those tiny screens slow devices to today’s big-screen fast and smooth smartphones. Some brands like Samsung and Huawei have also introduced foldable devices while many brands like Xiaomi are working on foldable technology. This year we were also introduced with 5G modem and use of Artificial Intelligence for improved performance. But what’s coming next? Well this is an interesting question as the year 2020 will be a revolutionary year for the smartphone market. With increasing competition, smartphone companies are working on more advanced and interesting stuff and the results have started to come.
In 2020, we will see more uniquely and innovatively designed smartphones with improved software and advanced processor. The smartphone camera has also come a long way and today phones are coming with a multiple-lens module. Next year smartphone cameras will get a boost too with more improved lenses.
Best Upcoming Smartphones in 2020
Apple iPhone X Fold
Samsung recently introduced its foldable device in MWC and there is news that Apple has also patented its foldable smartphone technology. So it is expected that we could see Apple’s first foldable device in 2020. A render has also been created by a fan on Apple’s patent that looks excellent. It is likely to be 50% more expensive than other high-end foldable devices. However, all this information is rumored and made us more curious about the foldable phone.
You can look into patented images which indicates that the upcoming smartphone is going to be a foldable one. While there are also few real to life fan-made renders that shows how exactly this device is going to be. But nothing much is officially confirmed, everything is now going on the bases of rumors.
Samsung Galaxy S11
Samsung hits the news all the time with some incredible stuff. The leaked patent images suggest that Samsung Galaxy S11 which is expected to be unveiled in 2020 will come with a fully-bezel-less display also the device could have an expandable display. However, always a patent doesn’t confirm the phone, because sometimes the company files patent just for protective measures. But it is confirmed that S11 is in development and a recent report from SamMobile confirms the colors of S11 variants which are going to be in black, white, blue, and pink.
Samsung Galaxy Fold
Since Samsung was supposed to release its fold-able phone in April 2019 but due to some circumstances, t is not clear when they intend to publish a new launch date for it.
This is until the company is able to solve the issue of the display fragility. Until the issue has been addressed, the company will then announce the new date. What Samsung is doing it to combine the 4.6-inch infinity flex display with the 7.3-inch panel. It is moving from the small display to a seamless larger. The phone will be coming with a combined 6 cameras across the inside and the outside with a 12 GB Ram.
Also, it comes with an inbuilt 512 GB storage capability to enable all the apps working well with enough space. Already the lines of people doing pre-orders are long. Many of these people have been anticipating on holding their new phones, but they will have to hold on a bit longer before it is released.
Does it sound realistic? Maybe not but Nokia is expected to launch Upcoming Mobile 2020 which is named Nokia 10. The phone is said to be loaded with a combination of dual 48MP (wide-angle and telephoto) camera sensors on its rear with 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization.
On the front, on the other hand, there will be a 16MP selfie snapper for selfies and videos calls and importantly, it’ll be capable enough to record 1080p videos. Rumours suggested that it’s going to have a 6.5-inches display and other features include a dust-resistant, water-resistant and Quick charge 4+.
Xiaomi Mi 10
If it follows the same pattern as this year, Xiaomi’s new flagship will arrive in China a few days before its Global launch at MWC on 23 February 2020 (TBC). The Mi 10 will likely be priced under £500, making it fierce competition for the Galaxy S11 and LG G9 also expected to launch at the show.
We can expect Mi 10 to feature a Snapdragon 865 processor, a 64Mp Samsung camera and MIUI 10. Other rumours at this stage should be taken with a pinch of salt, alluding to such features as 5,000mAh battery, a massive upgrade on the current 3,300mAh cell, and yet a smaller 6.2in display.
We’re fairly sure the screen notch will go away, but how Xiaomi handles this is yet to be seen. It may well go down the punch-hole route rather than the pop-up camera used in the Mi 9T.
LG G9 ThinQ
We don’t know much about the upcoming LG G9 ThinQ, save for the fact that it will be unveiled at MWC next February. We don’t even know if it will go on sale in the UK, given that the G8 (pictured) did not.
Worryingly, LG told Android Authority at MWC 2019 that 5G was going to be restricted to the V-series, while the G-series would be stuck on 4G. It doesn’t bode well for a flagship phone that was already looking a little dated with its chunky screen notch, dual-lens camera and rear fingerprint sensor.
However the G8 excels in its display and in audio, which we’re hoping will carry through to the G9. This could be one of the only flagship phones left to include a 3.5mm headphone jack, now that Samsung has dropped it from Note 10.
Google Pixel 5
Google is about to launch its Pixel 4 series smartphones this year, everything about the device is almost clear the renders of the phone is confirmed. But the next year 2020 is going to be very exciting for smartphones lovers because we will be witnessing lots of future devices including Google Pixel 5. You know that technology keeps on upgrading each year and we saw the futuristic smartphones each year. Pixel 5 is going to be a very awesome device from the company why not? because Android is owned by Google and they always introduce some exclusive out of the box features for their devices.
The interesting part here is all the Google devices are very much optimized you will not see more RAM or battery, but they optimize each part of the smartphone very well. So that even if the specs on paper looks low but works better than any other high-end smartphone.
The Bottom Line
Very much like 2019, 2020 seems to be an excellent year for smartphone brands. Samsung will try its best to keep leading the chart with its 1st position whereas Huawei will do its best too to become world’s number 1st smartphone brand. It’s too prompt to expect anything as nobody knows what’s exactly going to happen in the world of smartphones. However, listed above Upcoming Smartphones 2020 can be taken with a pinch of salt.
